Two Week Trail Challenge - 301204

Join us for the Two-Week Trail Challenge and walk all the trails in the Hit the Trail Book (from Wegmans and Friends of Webster Trails) between October 5 - October 19 of 2024. This challenge does not include Webster Park or Bike Trail - but added bonus if completed! This leaves 28 Trails and should take approximately 12 hours to complete

Completed Trail Hikers will complete an online form (emailed to all registrants) and will receive a completion certificate and a keepsake pin as well as social media and website recognition.

Stay 'n Play - 307001

Want to workout or attend a program at Webster Parks & Recreation...but have littles in the house? Register for our FREE Stay 'n Play Program! Drop the kids off, go to a program, a class or workout in our fitness center! Stay 'n Play: Provides a safe, comfortable and interactive environment for all children. Facilitates crafts, helping with homework, playing games, etc. Space is limited so pre-registration is required but attendance is not mandatory each session. Stay ‘n Play staff are certified in CPR and First Aid and must pass a background check prior to being hired. Please note - Potty training not required but parents must be prepared to to take their child to the bathroom or change diaper when called upon. Let us focus on your kids while you focus on YOU!

Taijiquan Reeling Silk Exercises, Qigong and Conditioning for Internal Martial Arts - 337020

This class is recommended for all levels of students and will enhance your understanding of the basics of body movement in the practice of Taijiquan (T’ai Chi Ch’uan). Reeling Silk is the defining movement method of Chen Style Taiji and is in several other Taiji styles as well. Reeling silk movement involves particular connected coordinations of the central part of your body and the limbs, which gives the well-known appearance of spiraling in the limbs. We will teach principles and exercises for both the upper and lower body. Applications will be shown for many of the exercises. Other conditioning practices of internal martial arts and qigong exercises will be taught to further improve flexibility, coordination, and strength.

Chen Style Taijiquan (T’ai Chi Ch’uan) - 337022

We will learn and practice the traditional Chen Taijiquan form Lao Jia Yi Lu (old style first set). It is a key conditioning and training form within the Chen Style taijiquan system and is the parent form of the other major taijiquan styles (e.g., Yang, Wu). The form contains slow continuous movements that utilize the reeling silk movement quality of Chen taijiquan. Reeling silk exercises will be used as warm-up and to teach the style of spiraling body movement, deep opening and closing of tissue, and postures used in the form. Martial strategies of Lao Jia Yi Lu include strikes (da), joint locks (chin na), and take downs (swai). This session will teach the original taijiquan form and practitioners that know the form will deepen their practice through refinement, safely and carefully practicing the martial applications, and through repetition.
