This class is recommended for all levels of students and will enhance your understanding of the basics of body movement in the practice of Taijiquan (T’ai Chi Ch’uan). Reeling Silk is the defining movement method of Chen Style Taiji and is in several other Taiji styles as well. Reeling silk movement involves particular connected coordinations of the central part of your body and the limbs, which gives the well-known appearance of spiraling in the limbs. We will teach principles and exercises for both the upper and lower body. Applications will be shown for many of the exercises. Other conditioning practices of internal martial arts and qigong exercises will be taught to further improve flexibility, coordination, and strength.
